Cervical Cancer Awareness Month
It is important that you attend your cervical screening (smear test) when invited.
Cervical screening checks the health of your cervix and helps find any abnormal changes before they can turn into cancer.
You may feel understandably anxious or worried about attending, this could be for many reasons.
Please make sure you remember to book your appointment for your test, and if you’re worried please talk about it with the nurse.
Here’s what our patients said about their cervical screening appointment:
“I was very anxious to attend the practice for a smear test and became extremely distressed. Nurse Andrea and Dr Amrit Khera were extremely caring and supportive, allowing me to compete the test. I am grateful for their care and passion for helping me and taking the time to make me feel at ease.”
“Emma understood this was my first smear test so took the time to explain the procedure as well as why they were doing it and, what would come from it. She also was very patient and talked me through the procedure during it.”
“Lisa is fantastic. I never used to attend my annual smear due to negative experience before but Lisa has put me at ease, explains everything perfectly and I feel comfortable asking her questions also and I have since attended every year since she has been there”
“I struggle severely with anxiety during procedures such as smears, the nurse that dealt with me was honestly incredible.
She was so reassuring and calm with me during and made me feel so much better ultimately easing my nerves and making the experience less daunting for me.
I can’t remember her name unfortunately but she deserves so much recognition and praise, she is what all nurses should be like 🙂”
