Urgent Appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today (Monday to Friday)

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

Our administration teams will take a simple history of the problem. It is important that we understand why you need the appointment to make sure that we provide you with the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Please note that only x1 problem will be discussed at this consultation / urgent appointment on the day.

If you need help with your appointment. Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer
Please see our team page for who you can see
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, video call or face-to-face.
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs
We aim to provide patients with the choice of any available clinician for routine appointments, and we are happy to accommodate requests for a female or male clinician where this is a preference. However, during periods of staff sickness, annual leave, or other exceptional circumstances, the choice of clinician may be limited.

For urgent appointments and emergencies, patients must accept that they will need to see the clinician who is available at that time to ensure timely care.

Please also note that while patients may request a specific clinician, requests based on race, ethnicity, or other protected characteristics are not appropriate and could be considered discriminatory. We strive to maintain an inclusive and respectful environment for both patients and staff.

Routine Appointments

To request a routine appointment in the future

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

Other Available Services (Refer Yourself)

Our reception team will signpost you to other services available to you if we are unable to offer you an appointment at the practice as quickly as you would like

Likewise, the GP isn’t always the best person for you to see, depending on your current health concern(s)

Signposting allows you to receive the right care, from the right person, when you need it

You can refer yourself to any of these services at any time, including:

  • Mental health
  • Bereavement support
  • Support to stop smoking
  • Physiotherapy
  • …and more

Cancelling or Changing Your Appointment

If you can’t attend an appointment for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible so we can give the appointment to someone else.

If you don’t cancel your appointment, and choose not to attend, this means we can’t offer your booked time to someone else who needs it.

It will also be marked on your record as a DNA (Did Not Attend). If you have several DNAs, this could result in a breakdown of trust between you and your GP, which ultimately could lead to you being removed from the practice list.

Each month, more than 100 appointments are wasted. Wasted appointments means unwell patients aren’t able to be seen.
